Lululemon YXE:

A series of photographs to be used in store in Saskatoon as well as select national branding materials. This shoot features ambassador Brandon Wicks at Rise Strength Lab.

I met Brandon Wicks for the first time at this photoshoot. For creative direction, we wanted to capture Brandon showing him as an athlete, business owner, and part of the community. We started with portraits of Brandon, and then moved into some more dynamic shots with him moving. One of our favourite photographs is the image of him moving battle ropes.

When creating images that tell a story, it’s important to have the subject doing things they would normally do. We used a wider angle lens, and moved in close to give an intimate feel to the images. After we completed the environmental portraits and action shots we then moved to a group session. Getting all of these types of shots is key to highlighting the ambassador.

Brandon asked some of his members to join us for the morning for a workout. We needed a real workout and we picked exercises that would photograph well. Some were lined up in a grid, some were done in a circle. This allowed us to quickly get a large amount of strong images in a short amount of time.

We wrapped up the session by having everyone tackle Brandon for a group shot. I yelled “OK! Now everyone dog pile on Brandon!” It worked perfectly.
